The most recent for has reached three fourth of the followers from @heiseonline, patching the -bug for them. So we should see most of the traffic coming from here again. Yet, the number of visits from the to heise.de hasn't really grown that much.

At least, the three -alternatives are again bigger than , which keeps declining.

In sum, the four networks deliver half as much traffic than alone in the beginning of 2022.

@mho @heiseonline

But obviosly Mastodon (really Mastodon or all Fediverse? ) is the most important Alternative to X.

@h2owasser

It's traffic via the links, our account on is posting. So it's mainly , but there is some in there.

I'd guess the reason is that the Fediverse is full of nerds, unlike the real world.
Fediverse is to social networks what Linux is to OS.

It gives us a cozy, elitist feeling to be here, but it has zero to do with how the real world ticks.

So, for tech people, this might be one alternative to Twitter, but the non tech people don't come here.

@mndflayr @mho @heiseonline

But obviously the market share for Mastodon is higher than the share for Linux on desktop. BTW. as digitalisation envolve, social media IS the real world.

@h2owasser @mho @heiseonline

OK, you are right. Linux is even worse. 😊

By "real world" I meant the kind of social media where "normal people" hang out.

@mndflayr @h2owasser @mho @heiseonline That would be Instagram and Tiktok with much younger demographics or Facebook with older demographics. ;) There is IMHO no general social media for everyone. All of them are niches compared to the overall society. Even Twitter.

@mho ich liebe Graphen . Finde ich dennoch weiterhin beeindruckend, das heißt im Grunde ja: Eure Zielgruppe ist hier zu finden. @heiseonline

@mho @heiseonline Interesting stats. What is your take on why the portion of Threads and Bluesky is so small, compared to Mastodon?

@collectifission

On @heiseonline has just a tenth of the followers from here, that's certainly a big reason. On it is much more, but as far as I know, we can't (or don't) publish automatically (meaning all articles), so there is way less content to click on.

It's not my responsibility, but I'll ask the colleagues, when I see them the next time…
