Cycling on RailsIncidentally someone asked me as they were very confused that they couldn't buy a ticket for Barcelona at the (SNCF) ticket machine. No Renfe machine around. Still, whoever designed <a href="https://urbanists.social/tags/Renfe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Renfe</a>’s over-the-counter ticket sales IT system didn’t think of including a suitable reader. (Don’t know about the self-service ticket machines.) Even if Renfe, like all long distance travel companies in Spain, requires the passport or ID card number of each passenger. (Which then is, I assume, extremely rarely checked, but hey, SECURITY!!!)

It was impossible to get a ticket because their website could not find any train. I have photos of mites on the seats, and this has been the case for the last 30 years. And in some lines (like R3 from Barcelona to Puigcerdà in the Pyrenees) there aren't any head rest sheets, so the upper part of the seats back rest has blackened, simply from hair fat. It's disgusting.

Now it takes nominally over 80 minutes, and is often late. This is one of the most transited tracks in Spain if not the most transited.
