I am proud to announce that I have been invited to join the board of World Cyber Health, the parent organization of the #MalwareVillage (proposed at #DEFCON 33, coming soon to a #BSides or other conferences near you). Malware Village will host talks, contests, and workshops to educate and encourage more people to join the malware analysis field.

I continue to work to support those inside and outside the cybersecurity community with a spinoff WCH project called NO HAVOC (no-havoc.org/), a cybersecurity "911" service where cybercrime victims can be directed to support services in their region of the world.

We are here to rescue us. Nobody else is going to save us.

Had a walkthrough of the Ingenuity space in Cleveland. This will be the location for BSides Cleveland 2025. Oct 18. It is a MASSIVE artist and maker space. Main floor accommodates 1000 people, multiple floors with elevators for accessibility.
Quite different from prior spaces.

🚨 BSidesChicago 2025 Needs You! 🚨

For years, I’ve been running BSidesChicago solo until the final stretch, when an army of amazing “day of” volunteers swoops in to save the day. But this year… I want to level up.

That’s right, I’m assembling a small but mighty team EARLY—so we can make Oct 31 - Nov 1, 2025 the most epic #BSidesChicago yet! 🔥

✅ Do you love chaos but also want to tame it?
✅ Are you skilled at herding cats, wrangling flamingos, or making things magically happen?
✅ Want a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to pull off a BSides?

Then I WANT YOU. (And so does Sasha. In fact, she’s already practicing her “motivational flamingo” dance to welcome the new recruits. 🦩💃)

I need a few key humans to help with planning, logistics, speaker herding, and general #BSides wizardry. You’ll get cool perks, insider access, and the eternal gratitude of a flamingo-loving organizer.

@sashatheflamingo insists that volunteers must meet one or more of the following criteria:
🐦 Enjoys the thrill of organized chaos
🐦 Can bribe her with snacks (she’s partial to shrimp cocktails and of course fine tequila)
🐦 Will help hide or find rogue flamingos during the Great Flamingo Hunt

Roles are flexible, fun, and full of surprises. If you’ve ever thought, “BSidesChicago is amazing, and I’d love to help make it even better,” now’s your chance.

(Some of you may or may not be aware that I run BSidesSF Program Operations in my spare time. This year Astha returns as Program Chair, running the review committee and curating content for the informational track; Crystal and Aaron returning to oversee and curate villages; and Yash and Julia providing additional operational support. I’m grateful to be working with a fantastic team for the 2024 program).
