@youronlyone I believe this is a general trend not linked exclusively to #drama discussions.
Exchanges are increasingly polarised by personal sensitivity to certain topics.
It's more important today to belong to a faction rather than expressing a nuanced POV.
It may have something to do with the communities being now online. People don't meet as often as they used to do at the public library book club.
Social approval comes easier through a popular opinion compared to an insightful one.
It's starting to get tiring discussing shows in a certain online community *cough*MDL*cough* because more often than not, the people who join the discussions are emotionally charged.
I mean, remember book club meetings? We sat together to discuss the current book of the month. How did we do these discussions? We put ourselves in the shoes of the characters—what ticks them, why they do this and that, how do they think, and so on. Which in turn helped us unlock or understand the mind of the author. We don't let our own standards and emotions in. We don't look at any of it from an observer's standpoint.
Where are the people who were capable of deep and meaningful discussions in *cough*MyDramaList*cough* went to?

If anyone wants to jointwatch/rewatch My Mister in the near future, I'd totally be down for that. One of the aspects that I loved was how much the neighbourhood was a leading character in that one.

@AnnaAnthro @kdramarama @EllenInEdmonton Wow! Did you ever rewatch it? I don"t think I would have picked up on a lot of nuances without watching a lot of other #kdrama s first
@kdramarama @AnnaAnthro
For me, the pacing was almost dreamy! And I can easily visualize those rural scenes again. It was fascinating for me to watch the way that the 3 leads moved towards something resembling adulthood! And I'm really enjoying Lee El, who plays the elder sister in several other dramas right now! There was a lot of talent poured into this one.
#kdrama
@AnnaAnthro yes! Loved that it was quiet and without the usual #kdrama tropes *cough* love triangles *cough* connected ~troubled~ childhood stories between ML and FL
It’s not for everyone but I love, love #MyLiberationNotes. It is slow, thoughtful and deliberate. It’s not for those looking for pure escapism or [smut] between pretty people or gratuitous violence or fairy tale endings. That frog conversation between Gu and Mi-Jeong was especially memorable to me as someone who’s had the same weird thought processes in life. That episode about their mother near the end? Chef’s kiss. This is a drama which has a shrine in my imaginary #kdrama favourites gallery.
When I first watched CRASH LANDING ON YOU I was new to #kdramas and #kdrama archetypes and tropes. I also didn’t know the language at all.
I recently started rewatching CLOY and now that I am more familiar with Kdramas and a bit more familiar with the Korean language it’s even funnier. Like, it’s a lot funnier if you recognize the words “dongmu” and “dongji” (comrade/comrades) and notice when it’s used.
I am thinking about my favorite historical fiction #kdrama where the corrupt and greedy ministers barely bat an eyebrow at the King initiating bloody political purges, beating one of his concubines, and killing his younger brother…but when the king starts trying to reform the tax system that enriches them, they stonewall him and then try to coup him.
I think something similar will happen with #Tariffs and #Musk deciding he can just switch off Treasury funding.

Doom at your service is so much better than My Demon it isn't even close. #kdrama

@altbot Even the actresses involved were blindsided because the production team essentially deepfaked them! They used body doubles and put the actresses’ faces on with CGI.
This is gross and I hope the actresses/their agencies bring a lawsuit over it, because it probably violates their contracts with the production company (at the very least).
Deleted the original Toot and now reposting because I think I used the alt text bot wrong.
A controversial nude scene in #TheQueenWhoCrowns #kdrama seems to have caught the network and even the director by surprise. The scene is in the steaming version of the drama but not the broadcast version due to age restrictions. It wasn’t supposed to be in either!
