Multi Purr Puss :verified:<p>🧵 5/n KDE is just as convenient as <a href="https://layer8.space/tags/Gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gnome</span></a>; i can control / mute the <a href="https://layer8.space/tags/audio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>audio</span></a> of a single <a href="https://layer8.space/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a> tab, then every subsequently opened tab will also be muted, even if the previously muted tab has been closed - that's a very desired behaviour!</p><p>👉 multi-tasking / multi-tabbing audio control 👍</p><p>edit: scenario - i'm listening to a talk-show/vod-cast, and don't want audio of other tabs, disturbing me. Multi Purr Puss :verified:<p>🧵 4/n<br>I haven't quite figured out how to move windows to another monitor, yet - multi-monitor setup, here.</p><p>Meta+Shift+Arrow_Right/Left works, for the portrait sidecar monitor …but not much else.</p><p>Tips are appreciated!<br>I'm noob-ish - just switched from <a href="https://layer8.space/tags/Ubuntu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ubuntu</span></a> <a href="https://layer8.space/tags/Gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gnome</span></a>.</p><p>Also, how friggen fancy is that; i can adjust the brightness of my monitors, by hovering over the "systray" icon and scroll the mouse wheel! 🥰 AMAZING! Multi Purr Puss :verified:<p>🧵 3/n apparently, Meta+W triggers the "Overview"!</p><p>*sigh* how lazy do i want to be, today? 😅 Is this "good enough"?</p><p>Meta+W is kind of a cumbersome "Affengriff", as we colloquially call it in German - [monkey gesture] - it's a bit inconvenient.</p><p>It seems, i can't open the "Start" menu via "hot corners" / "Screen Edges" - WHY? 😱</p><p>I might've over-estimated KDE, slightly - it's amazingly configurable, via GUI tools - but not exactly where it counts, yet. 😉</p><p><a href="https://layer8.space/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDE</span></a> <a href="https://layer8.space/tags/KDEneon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDEneon</span></a> <a href="https://layer8.space/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> <a href="https://layer8.space/tags/Desktop" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Desktop</span></a></p>

Nicholas - ITSulu<p><a href="https://mastos.online/tags/KDENeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDENeon</span></a> benefits from a <a href="https://mastos.online/tags/Ubuntu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ubuntu</span></a> base, so it's very user-friendly and handles hardware recognition like a champ. And anyone coming from just about any version of Windows will feel right at home on the <a href="https://mastos.online/tags/KDEPlasma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDEPlasma</span></a> desktop environment. For those who'd like to eventually work with a desktop that looks nothing like <a href="https://mastos.online/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows</span></a>, KDE Plasma can easily make that happen. Turn the bottom panel into a dock and add a top bar and you have a desktop similar to <a href="https://mastos.online/tags/MacOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MacOS</span></a>. KDE Plasma is that flexible.</p>
Nicholas - ITSulu<p><a href="https://mastos.online/tags/KDENeon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDENeon</span></a> <br>"Slight resemblance to Windows 7 and fully configurable"</p><p>KDE Neon is the flagship distribution for highlighting the <a href="https://mastos.online/tags/KDEPlasma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDEPlasma</span></a> desktop environment. What is so wonderful about KDE Plasma is that it can be configured to look and feel just about any way you like it. Out of the box, KDE Plasma does bear a slight resemblance to <a href="https://mastos.online/tags/Windows7" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows7</span></a>, but you can tweak it to look more like <a href="https://mastos.online/tags/Windows10" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows10</span></a> or <a href="https://mastos.online/tags/Windows11" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows11</span></a> if you like.</p>
