Wife and I are on immune suppressants for autoimmune diseases (wife Chron's; me psoriatic arthritis).
We each got titers for most of the illnesses #GenX was regularly inoculated for. Wife came back unprotected for measles. I came back "equivocal" and the low end thereof. So, we each talked to the doctors that prescribed our respective medications and are now on breaks from them so that we could get vaccinated this past Friday. It'll be another three-plus weeks before we can go back on our respective medications.
As an aging #genX person let me be clear: if you’re my age and don’t support #trans rights, you’ve missed the fucking point. We’re the generation that created #cyberpunk as a genre. There is *nothing* more cyberpunk than self selecting your gender identity.
This article is so interesting. It was written in 1990 about how Gen X is entering the workforce and how we aren’t buying into the boomer propaganda about work.
This is why I still am still shocked to see the people I went to high school with boot licking like they do. This is why their simping for capitalism was so shocking to me in 2020. Especially after people told me for years that it “must be so nice to sit home all day!”
Then I watched them flip out when they could stay home with their family and collect an extra $600 on top of unemployment. The TANTRUMS OMG LOL

"Punch buggy green!" #monsterdon #genx
The cringy "bounce" sound in the middle of the night.
The fact you could throw them at the wall, get 2 to 3 good bounces, and still hit your friend across the room
They made excellent dirt diggers for kids and could be washed out.
The ultimate colored pen holder.
The last minute "I forgot worms" and go get nightcrawlers for fishing temporary storage facility.
I may or may not have done these. And I will still take these over most of today's cups.

@Rycaut High school. Took a train to school. If there was a train strike in the afternoon, an 8km walk home. 400 youngsters walking back along the roads. Happened a few times. No drama, just got on with it.
I recently turned 50 yrs old but don't feel that old. I usually don't feel my chronological age. Sometimes, I'm randomly reminded that I am not a Spring chicken anymore. That happened earlier today, at the grocery store. A masked woman approached me in store & her eyes were bright & happy. She asked me if I was Miss Banh & if I used to work at McTavish Elementary School in the late 90s. I replied, 'Yes, I worked as a specialized TA with disabled kids at McTavish in the 90s.' She was elated & said - 'I was one of your autistic students! I remember you well & missed you when you stopped working there. I want to tell you that your help, support & staying after school hours to help me with my lessons more, made a big difference to my life & my self esteem. I never forgot you. I'm so glad to see you again. Can we please exchange contact info so we can meet up sometime & chat more?
We exchanged contact info. I'm looking forward to catching up with her this Spring
This woman was only 8 years old when she met me at her school. I feel honoured that she remembered me & grateful for the unexpected reunion in a grocery store, decades later.

Tja, und die politische Situation macht mich gerade ziemlich kirre!
@dannotdaniel This #GenX chants, "Go #BabyBoomer, Go Boomers, Go Boomers!"
The 90s. Everyone seemed so optimistic in those days, and my typist salary would have let me get a mortgage on a house in Leicester.
'In the late 1990s, Mischa Haller began taking pictures of British nightlife during the hours after the clubs had shut'
'The project resonates with my generation – generation X – because we’ve all lived through it. It reminds them of their youth.'
Reading rising of Alice Weidel AfD and the sudden death of 徐熙媛, it reminded me that we #genX #millennial are in the center stage of the world and we are not any better despite the expectations and it is a weird feeling
I think the reason people gravitate and love Mariya Takeuchi's Plastic Love is because the it is the epitome of Analog recording combined with the cleanest studio work on record (pun unintended).
Then you have the people who understand the lyrics and you can see how it has lasted for over forty years. The poppy tune paired with the sad alienation depicted in the lyrics is perennial.
Dear #GenX,
Unless we retire in the next few years, we're going to have coworkers born in 2010.
Love,
A person who did very terrible math in a nightmare last night
@stefan yeah last week was a long one.
Nothing beats #nintendoswitch and ribs and my 5 animals all day Saturday! Best feeling
